We are Sword of the Spirit Ministries, a non-profit, international, interdenominational organization. Our ministry was founded in 1993 to challenge and encourage Christians to memorize Scripture in its full context — that is, not just random verses here and there, but building verses into chapters and chapters into books. This old but new concept is starting to revitalize the Christian community not only in the United States and Canada, but also in Russia, Kenya/Tanzania and Central America.

Co-founder, May McClure graduated from Prairie Bible Institute High School and Berean Bible College (both in Canada), also The International Child Evangelism Fellowship Institute, then in Pacific Palisades, California. She came to know the Lord when she was 14 years old. Although she had memorized countless verses and short passages of Scripture for almost 50 years, she says it was not until she began memorizing Scripture in its full context, by chapter and book, that she began to experience a consistent, satisfying and meaningful walk with the Lord. Her husband Ellis, graduated from Cal-Poly University, San Luis Obispo, California and pursued a career in industrial engineering. As co-founder and active participant in the ministry, his business expertise has been invaluable.

The Bible is clear regarding the path to righteousness. It is hiding God's Word in our hearts that nurtures righteousness — memorizing it, meditating on it, and applying it to our lives. This is emphasized throughout Scripture. And you will enjoy reading the testimonies on this site from just a few who responded to this challenge.

It is our prayer that the Lord might be pleased to use us to help you, yes you, get started on this life changing adventure. We long for you, too, to know the power and experience the joy of having God's Word — in it's full context — branded on your heart and secured in your mind. There, God's Holy Spirit can easily access it in directing your walk of faith. In a day where nothing seems certain and in a world where the line between right and wrong is being obscured beyond recognition, it is also a reassuring comfort to have God's Word in a place where no one can ever take it from us.
