What About This Book?
Here are comments from some who have read it!
I am so excited about your book and what is happening to me. I have not had such a conviction in a long time and I'm slowly working through Romans 8. Please pray for me. I know that the Lord wants me to do this, but it truly is going to have to be HIS work my head is so dense.
For the first time in my life, I'm having fun memorizing Scripture. It's so hard, but it's so wonderful!
I just gotta tell you about my ride home last night. It snowed in New York and it took me 3 hours to get home, so I had lots of time to read your book! I just wanted to tell you as I was reading I was saying to myself, "I've got to email May and let her know how great this is."
I really am into it. You did an amazing job! The writing is so well done, so wonderfully thought out. I want to give a copy to two friends of mine.
For the most part, Scripture memorization is a neglected discipline in modern evangelical Christianity. In The Sword May McClure has demonstrated just how important it is. Her book is written simply, yet persuasively, making an undeniable case for a largely abandoned practice. She shows how such important disciplines as effective mediation, prayer, and evangelism flow from a mind saturated in Scripture. She decisively refutes the common excuses for not memorizing and includes numerous practical and helpful suggestions for committing a passage to memory.
As a pastor, I finally realized that virtually all of my deepest longings for the spiritual growth of my congregation can be addressed through Bible memory. I believe that The Sword is just the answer for raising our awareness and challenging our reluctance.
Thank you so much for the book. I am almost finished with it and it is great! Almost perfect. I am going to use chapters 7 & 8 with my senior memorization class.
